Lesson 25 through 30
My fathers desire through the course of putting this study together was not just that pastors and people in leadership were to take on the responsibility of caring for the soul; but that we all as Christians make it a part of our everyday lives.
Think about the goals we have for our own Christian life….
What are the goals we have and how do we help one another reach those goals ?
Some say that our chief goal in life is to glorify and enjoy God forever. That is true. Scripture says that we were created for Gods glory and to proclaim his praise. (1 Cor. 10:31; Eph. 1:11-12; 1 Peter 2:9)
We exist to worship God in order to be genuine, and this worship must come from the heart, an expression of our real feelings.
How can we help others get to this point, are we even able to achieve such a task?
It is God who changes people, God who converts the soul, who leads people to repentance; who touches people with love and grace.
We can only describe God’s amazing love and grace; we can only set the right kind of examples of adoration and dedication to the Savior.… but it is God who changes the heart…
And our goal? To become more Christ like. To share the gospel. To seek and give forgiveness; to accept and love unconditionally… to open our hearts with wisdom and understanding to those in need around us. And always lifting others up in prayer. Follow God’s plan for our own lives.
To help others, we must first help ourselves . “Preventive Maintenance” we call it.
PREVENTAVE MAINTENANCE
In my fathers words;…
“When we buy a new automobile we pay attention to the Owners Manual thereby assuring fewer problems with that machine. And we assure a longer life of that expensive product as well. (At least that is the goal).
There is also a book called Repair Manual.
Our goal is to put the use of that Repair Manual as far off into the future as humanly possible.
Of course it does not work exactly that way, does it? (But it should).
If we soon forget, we then pay the consequences. Right?
We also have, as Christians, a book which, among other things, serves as an Owners Manual and as a Repair Manual. Why do so many seem to ignore it?
Several cliché’s come to mind….. Lock the barn door before the horse is stolen; or, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”.
The Scriptures go straight to the point: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
Until God in person shall come to us? … Cut off the dead part of our souls so we can recognize the presence of God“..

#25. Music: “Musick”
“ To serve our kin is love’s core; to follow our elders is the core of right; to understand these two and not depart from them is the core of wisdom; to apportion them and adorn them is the core of courtesy; to delight in them is music’s core. Delight is life; life cannot be held in; and as we cannot hold it in, our feet stamp and our hands dance, without our knowing it.The Christian life is strenuous. We must recognize the devil’s devices in melancholy thoughts, and counter them with innocent delights. Music is a God-given means of arousing gladness. When the devil makes you sad, say: “ Away with you, devil. I must now sing and play to my Lord Christ.” “Music is the best cordial to a person in sadness,” it soothes, quickens and refreshes the heart” And again: “Satan is a great enemy of music. It is a good antidote against temptation and evil thoughts.” A means to spiritual refreshment and soul healing.

#26.The Trinity:
Although no mention of the word “trinity” can not be found in any exhaustive biblical concordance, most believe and will recognize the Trinity” as “The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore and teach all nations baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1 John 5:7 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three are one. 1 John 5:8 “
There will be more written or shared on this subject later, but for now.....
Think also:
The relationship between the husband, the wife and the Father God. Each are separate and individual souls but when a man takes his wife, they become one flesh. When we accept the Lord , the Holy Ghost becomes a part of us, fills us and abides in us.(Ephesians 5:23-32; John 10:30; 14:10,11,23)
There are so many scriptures pertaining to this subject. Your challenge is to find as many scriptures that pertain to:

#29. Prayer:
To cast out our passions and vices we must look to God alone and obey Him. We must have the courage to pray. Continual perseverance in prayer, the crown of all virtues, that presents a searching treatment of the conditions of true prayer.
New Testament principles of intercessory prayer: Ephesians: “ For this reason I bow my knees before the Father… that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith…” (Eph. 3:14-19) Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplications… making supplication for all the saints” (6:18).
Private prayer: in which we abandon ourselves to the will and love of God, shed our wayward impulses, and feel ourselves divinely known, forgiven and revived, often proves a sovereign remedy against the dangerous inward enemies of personality

#30. Friendship:
This was the last subject on my fathers list of things to consider in the knowledge of how to “care for the soul” .
Being a friend is to attach yourself to another with affection or regard. A patron and supporter
To me, and I am sure that it was to him, the most important task of all. To simply extend some friendship.Being an unconditional friend with forgiveness, understanding and wisdom sometimes can be the only “counsel” a person needs. The bible tells us to love one another as God loves us.
